Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant unveiled the logo for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 on Wednesday.
According to the Chief Minister, hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Goa will boost sports and wellness in the state.
“The state of Goa is grateful to Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing this opportunity. This would increase the popularity of sports and fitness in the state “Goa’s chief minister stated.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 will be held in India from October 11 to October 30. The seventh edition of the biennial youth tournament would be India’s first FIFA women’s competition.
The remaining venues for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 are the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The FIFA Under-17 Men’s World Cup 2017 was held in India, and now the greatest young female footballers from around the world will compete for the prestigious title.
An official release stated that a financial outlay of Rs. 10 crore to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for field of play maintenance, stadium power, energy and cabling, stadia, and training site branding will be met from the budgetary allocation for the Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs).
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 will be the seventh edition of the competition, which will include 16 nations, including India.
The AIFF has nominated three venues for the competition matches: Bhubaneshwar, Navi Mumbai, and Goa.
