Instagram, a photo- and video-sharing service owned by Meta, launched its parental control tools in India on Thursday in an effort to encourage parents to be more involved in their teen’s online activities. The platform is also launching a Family Center, a brand-new location where parents and guardians may get resources and tools for supervision from top authorities. “The Family Center and the supervision tools will support our efforts to keep children safe. Our goal is to strike the right balance between allowing for supervision in a way that supports conversations between parents and children when it is beneficial while also accommodating young people’s desire for some autonomy when using Instagram “, Natasha Jog, Head of Public Policy for Instagram and Facebook India (Meta), said.

According to the platform, Meta has been collaborating closely with professionals, Indian parents, guardians, and youth to comprehend the demands of parents and youth. The greatest demand is still for tools and materials to teach parents about digital services. In light of this, Meta introduced Parental Supervision Controls and a Family Center in the US in March of this year and is currently bringing it to India. In India, parents and guardians can now control how much time their children spend on Instagram thanks to the Supervision Tools on the platform. Additionally, it will let parents to see the accounts that follow and are followed by their children.
