On Tuesday, in advance of the event, protests were observed against the official funeral for former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was killed while running for office in July. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan is having a lot of trouble dealing with the protests, which have been going on for about two months.

Shinzo Abe’s official funeral is expected to cost 1.7 billion yen, or about $12 million, which has infuriated many Japanese people who feel it is unfair that the country’s massively indebted administration is being honored with a state-funded ceremony.

Tokyo maintained a high level of security on Tuesday in anticipation of protests over the state funeral. A guy allegedly set himself on fire last week in a protest against the state burial near the office of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
