Samsung informed some users of U.S of a data breach where personal information was stolen such as name, contact and demographic details, date of birth, and product registration details, hacked in a data breach that happened in July. The tech company stated in the blog that details pertaining to each pertinent client may differ.
Samsung users in the US had their data compromised in the incident that happened in July of this year. In an email, the business disclosed that data had been taken from some of Samsung’s American systems by an unauthorised third party.
“In late July 2022, an unauthorized third party acquired information from some of Samsung’s U.S. systems. On or around August 4, 2022, we determined through our investigation that personal information of certain customers was affected. We have taken actions in order to secure the affected systems, and have engaged a leading outside cybersecurity firm and are coordinating with law enforcement,” the company’s FAQ page states. Samsung, however, ensured that the data breach did not impact Social Security numbers or credit and debit card numbers.
“We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our customers. We have engaged leading cybersecurity experts and are coordinating with law enforcement and will continue to work diligently to develop and implement immediate and longer-term next steps to further enhance the security across our systems,” Samsung said about strengthening the privacy and security of users.
