The Center has approved the creation of the indigenous Tejas Mark 2 light combat aircraft (LCA), which is the next-generation model and a more powerful version.
On Wednesday, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the initiative to create the LCA Mark 2 multirole fighter jet, a more capable and potent variant of the indigenous aircraft.

In addition to the Rs 2,500 crore initially approved for it, the fighter jet’s development will cost above Rs 6,500 crore.
The government gave its approval to the LCA Mark 2 fighter aircraft development project. According to ANI, Aeronautical Development Agency chief Girish Deodhare claimed that this would allow designers to create a sophisticated 17.5-tonne single-engine aircraft.
He predicted that by 2027, new aircraft would have been developed.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. is a government-run company that produces the Tejas, a single-engine, multi-role supersonic fighter (HAL).

An additional massive project for a fifth-generation medium weight deep penetration fighter, with a projected cost of roughly $5 billion, will be launched after the Tejas project.
